The Master of Environment Programme

The MASTER of ENVIRONMENT (M.Env.) is a programme by course work. The programme was first offered in November 1996 and the first batch of students graduated in August 1998. It is specifically designed to cater for professionals of varying backgrounds who wish to improve their knowledge on environmental issues.

The programme is structured to equip the graduate with various theories, procedures and methods in environmental studies to enable them to make informed decisions and assessments and to plan rehabilitative and development programmes. Students may specialise in environmental science or management. The programme is taught in English and conducted during weekends. The period of study for completion may range from three to four semesters.

Applications

Applications for admission are welcomed from graduates of accredited colleges and universities, who possess a good first degree (CGPA > 2.25) in Environmental Sciences or related areas.

Candidates with non-environmental related degrees, who posses a CGPA of 2.50 or greater (Second Lower Honours Degree), can be considered but may be required to take and pass prepartory courses that are set by the Department. Preference shall be given to candidates who have knowledge and experience relating to environmental management.

Candidates with a CGPA less than the minimum requirement, but who have at least three years of working experience in a related field may be considered.

International Students

All international candidates from countries where English is not a medium of instruction must have obtained a minimum score of 550 for TOEFL or 6 for IELTS.
